Luana Alapa
L.A. Productions is a local production under Luana Alapa - (hence the
initials L.A.) Her company produces several of the states top pageants
for women, teens and children. Luana is a pageant veteran - she was
named Homecoming Queen for the University of Hawaii in 1984 and went on
to win the Miss Hawaii title in 1987. Since then she has traveled
throughout the world promoting Hawaii through various Polynesian shows
of which she was a featured performer as a dancer and singer as well as an
emcee. She has also hosted a variety of fashion shows, pageants, variety
shows (ie, Brown Bags to Stardom, Military Concerts), and was enlisted to
serve as emcee for many local concerts, state bodybuilding contests,
beauty pageants, television shows from Life Styles of the Rich and
Famous to the Miss Hawaii Scholarship Pageant to recently launched
business, Heavenly Sweets by L.A.- custom designed Candy/Dessert
buffets, for All occasions ie., birthdays, weddings, graduations,
corporate, bridal and baby showers, bar mitzvahs, and anniversaries.

Luana has also been producing keiki contests for boys and girls ages 10 mos to 12
years for the past 7 years. She stages several keiki contests which include Little Miss &
Mister Hawaii State, Little Miss & Mister Aloha State, and Little Island
Prince & Princess, throughout the year at various malls.
In addition, for the past 19 years, Luana has been the state director
for the Mrs. Hawaii America State Pageant, Miss Hawaii United States and the
Miss Hawaii Teen & Junior Teen Scholarship Pageants. Four national title
holders have come out of her state pageants including: Mrs. America
2000 - Leslie Lam, Miss American United States 1999 - Angel Teves, Miss
American United States 2000 - Amber Stone and National American Miss Teen
2006 - Katherine Casciato.
The Mrs. Hawaii Pageant is a preliminary to the national Mrs. America
Pageant and was the very first “state” pageant for married women that
Luana and her family produced. President and founder of the Mrs. America Pageant, David Marmel, pioneer of the national competition, wanted to
showcase one of America’s natural resources - America’s more than 60
million married women. Women who are the backbone of the family unit,
who are not only the chief decision maker for the household but also
are career oriented, family oriented and uphold the values of the
institution of marriage.
